Yea I'm pissed... let's start by saying F**K Windows Media Player.
So, part of the reason I have been a ghost for so long is cuz I was having madd issues with my PC... HDD issues, Internet issues, just an old piece of crap computer that I didn't want to deal with anymore.

Still with the same PC, I decided to wipe clean my whole drive... and I don't mean just a format and reinstall... I'm talkin a full out santize of it.

As I prepare for my comeback to the blog game, I have my library of music all ready to go, organized all nicely in a folder.. viewing the thumbnail so I can see each Album Cover, u know how it do, my ishh gotta look good and be organized.

And now for why I'm mad, esp. at WM Player.
After reinstallin all my software and what not, I finally got back on the net. Now, I forgot to uncheck that option in WM player to update info and files from the net. This stupid ass program effed up all my music folders, copied over my album covers, and EFFED up my ID3 tags... pissed I tell you... PISSED!!

Okay now I'm done venting... wait not yet... 1st Quarter Hip Hop SUCKS!!!

:: The Ultimate Dead Prez Post ::

I know I am a day late, but as promised here is the next installment of Bootis' Ultimate Posts...Dead Prez!!

Known most for their politically charged lyrics, Dead Prez have been in the game for a while now trying to educate the hip hop generation. Made up of 2 members, Sticman and M-1, Dead Prez joined forces in 1990 at Florida A&M. Yes folks, these cats ain't the uneducated (street) thugs we so often read about and see all over the small screen...these in fact are some educated men. While most artists are worried about the hoes, the cars and the almighty dollar bill, Dead Prez have made it a point to exploit the exploiters in the business. Whether it be tackling topics of racism, governmental hypocrisy or perhaps their most notable "control over the media outlets that provide us" music and entertainment.

Getting their upstart on Loud Records, it was difficult for 2 fairly unknown rappers to break through and get the attention they deserved. Think about it, back in the mid-90's who were YOU more likely to listen to, Wu-Tang and Mobb Deep or some guys talkin bout politikin and ishhh??

Anyway, somewhere around '99-2G everyone who is anyone in hip hop quickly found out who these guys were and knew they meant business with the drop of "Hip Hop" Following the release of the single, their debut album, Let's Get Free, dropped. While sales weren't chart toppers, this album is known as a classic amongst true heads.

After obvious political and label drama (Loud Records fold) DP went out and dropped their 2nd piece of work...an independent mixtape called Turn Off Your Radio Vol. 1 in 2002. To this day I'm STILL bumpin the title track...ILL to say the least, you gotta check it out for yourself though....

what's on the radio, propaganda, mind control
and turnin it on is like puttin on a blindfold,
cuz when you bring the real, you don't get rotation,
unless you take over the station!!

In 2k3, the year of 5-0 snitch, DP came up with the follow up mixtape, Get Free Or Die Tryin (Turn Off The Radio The Mixtape Vol 2). While not meant to be a stab at the G-Unit general, at least not known to the general public, I think DP got the point across that they weren't nethin like that bullissshh...when they say "Turn off the Radio, Turn off that bullisshh" you know what kinda hip hop they're talkin about.

Nearly 4 years since they revealed the Matrix to mainstream hip hop, DP settled their label issues and dropped, Revolutionary But Gangsta, or RBG. Some 'fans' criticized DP for becoming too 'gangsta' on RBG, leaving behind their "revolutionary" lyrics that they made a career out of. If you ask me, these 'fans' completeley missed the point of this album. While not as good as say Let's Get Free, this album was more of an extension of them as people, as rappers. I think the title is very appropriate...I may be down for the revolution, but don't fuck with me cause I can still bust your skull....I may be educated, but I still gotta do what I gotta do and if you hold me down cause of my race, I'll bust your skull!
People have to remember, M-1 and Sticman may be educated, may have deep lyrics, but they are still street....the people that listen to them are street...the people they wish to educate and speak to are street....use your head!

Now that I'm done my little rant I'll just put you on to some music. I have included M-1's solo joint for those of you who don't have it yet. I have already spoke on this back when it dropped so I ain't gonna repeat myself...its different but dope leave it at that. As well I have included the album Dead Prez collaborated with Outlawz (2pac's old crew) which dropped this summer. Check it out, gimme your thoughts, to tell you the truth I haven't played it more than once, not cause it wasn't good, because I haven't had the time.

What's up people!! I hope you are still enjoyin all that Roots music I dropped on ya ;) I have decided, since I am too busy to update this thing on a daily, or even weekly for that matter, The Bootis Connection will now be EXCLUSIVELY dropping Ultimate posts; I'm hoping bi-weekly. As you can see The Bootis Connection is STILL up and runnin and its thanks to all the love and support I have received through emails and the comment section in the last few days. I couldn't believe it...100+ comments in like 3 days?? Never knew headz were coming through my little spot here like that...its pretty dope to know that peoples fron the globe swing by my spot to see what I'm throwing up.

So anyway, I'm here to stay and lets continue on with the next Ultimate post...The Legendary Roots Crew!!

The year, 1987... The place, Philadelphia... The group, The Legendary Roots Crew. Whether you like hip hop or not, everyone who hears The Roots instantly gains a certain respect and admiration for these dudes. Known for their unique ability to combine the soul and rhythm of a jazz band with the raw lyrical artform of rap, The Roots have been moving crowds for nearly 2 decades now. With 9 LP's under the belt this group has had their far share of ups and downs, plus group drama, but to this day are one of the few hip hop groups from back in the day that still produce relevant FIRE!!

Joiming forces in 1987, The original Roots members included, Black Thought, ?uestlove, Malik B, Hubb, and Scott Storch (yeah thats right, Storch the producer got his start with The Roots!!). What many people don't know is that while The Roots are from Philly, around 1992 they upped and left to London England and began performing across Europe.

In order to get by they recorded and released the now infamous black album, Organix, which went on to sell 150,000. With an independant release like that you know it wasn't long before labels were bangin down the doors. The band signed with DGC Records, went back to the states and released Do You Want More?!!!??! in 1995. While it may have been one of the best Roots albums to date, it did't receive too much love as headz just weren't ready yet.

One year later, enter Illadelph...Oooooweeee...now this album was one for the ages. This was the joint that brought the crew to the forefront of rap, earning their first Billboard position. With tracks like Clones, Sections and What They Do, this album is a MUST have for any hip hop lover.

After a 3 year hiatus and rumours of a break up, the Roots came hard in 1999 with the release of Things Fall Apart. Many people will remember this album for the contoversial cover art, or should I say cover artS. Five front covers were released for this album, all depicting eye opening images of sadness and disaster, from a dead man's bloody hand to a crying child.

After the success of Things Fall Apart and lending their musical genius to Jay-Z for his MTV unplugged score, The Roots Crew were under pressure. They released Phrenology in '03 and to the dismay of many fans, parted away from the typical jazzy sound to a more rock/electronica feel. Not my cup of tea, but hey it was an experiment... either hate it or love it!

2004 brought The Tipping Point for The Roots. Not only the title of their album, but the name spoke words for what was going down behind the scenes. DJ Scratch left the group and Geffen, their label at the time, was giving them issues and demanding more album sales. The result was the most commercial album to date. While The Roots went back to their jazzy feel style, I can't say I wasn't a little disappointed with this record. It just didn't feel right.

Prsent day... Game Theory. This album touches straight on the political mess of the USA today. This is the first joint off Jay-z's Def Jam, and its a goodie for me, I love this album. I won't ruin it for ya'll so I'll just stop there... trust me and go buy this shit...its dope!!!

Basically I want to see if its worth it to continue posting or if in my long absence the heads have found another source for good hippity hoppity.

:: The Ultimate Onyx Post ::

It's been a while since the last Ultimate post so I figured I'd throw out one of my fav groups of the early 90's. Onyx is a hardcore rap group which formed in 1989 with members: Fredro Starr, Sonee Seeza, and Big DS. In 93 the group added Sticky Fingaz, perhaps the most prominent of the group as well as Fredro's cousin, and signed with the late Jam Master Jay to his JMJ records. Their first album, Bacdafucup, was definately their most commercially successful release, took only one month to go platinum (if you remember correctly back in the early 90's it wasnt that easy sell 1 million as a rapper/group). With club anthems like "Slam" and "Throw Ya Gunz," the bald headed bastards made a name for themselves both in the streets with the thugs, as well as in the clubs with all the party-goers. The follow up to their critically acclaimed debut met with some harsh criticism. In my opinion All We Got Iz Us was the best Onyx album ever, however critics werent feelin the darker, more violent and graphic nature of the lyrics. After the release of Shut Em Down, the group split, leaving their record label, Def Jam, and began persuing solo careers in music and movies (Sticky Fingaz and Fredro). Onyx came back together in '02 to drop another LP, however, in '03, they suffered the loss of founding member Big DS, and while he was only featured on a few tracks off Bacadafucup and none after, Big DS played a pivotal role in the early years.

With the last 2 releases, Bacadafucup II & Triggernometry, being poor in sales as well as quality, I'm hopin that they can bounce back in 2006 with "The Black Rock." Also look out for X-1, Sticky's brother. He was featured a little on Shut Em Down, as well as, Sticky's solo joints, but yo this kid is like the long lost 4th member of the crew.

OH MY GOD!!! I can't even tell you how excited I am about this album. Don't EVER say Bootis doesnt connect you with some of the best new, old and pre-released ISHH. The Boot Camp Clik is back in full effect with all the original Great 8 members (Buckshot, Tek, Steele, Louieville Sluggah, Top Dogg, Starang Wondah, Ruck, and the return of ROCK!!!). Now, before we go further I must advise you all that this is an ADVANCE copy and not the retail...the difference being, this copy has some cat saying "Duck Down Records Presents The Boot Camp Clik, The Last Stand July 18, 2006" during some of the tracks....so for all you diehards out there, this will keep you goin and wet those appetites til the official release date.

The post before this I complained about MC's half assin their albums and not droppin 'em full of hot ishh; however, Boot Camp has NEVER been such a group to do so and this album is further evidence. Stickin with what works, the BCC follows their consistent head nodding super clean NYC style production, along with crazy ass lyrics. The only thing really that seperates this BCC joint from others, is that they recruited a variety of producers rather than 'Da Beatminerz" exclusively producing. While Da Beatminerz do hold it down on a regular, I think it was a smart moveto bring in a little twist. The Last Stand boasts production from the one and only 9th Wonder, Pete Rock, Ill Mind, Large Professor, Marco Polo, of course Da Beatminerz, as well as others.

On the track 'Let's Go' Buckshot sets it off reppin for 2Pac and lettin us know that he hasn't lost his touch and the BCC is always gonna pop off with the realness, "We stomp through, so many rap wars and rap awards, Boot Camp Clik been on your front line blastin off, and hardly got props for it, I saw it, even though we never got big we never stopped short, Pac saw it that's why he called us, to form ONE NATION on the world to see more of us."

Fortunately, this album WILL NOT go mainstream, and while these 8 great MC's won't see the financial gains like the 50 cent's and the other homo rappers out there, they will always get the props and support from the real hip hop heads who appreciate GOOD hip hop...note to all up and coming MC's...not every rhyme has to be about money, hoes and murder...you can make an ill track through metaphor, intellect, poetry and always some good old comedy/shit talkin.

Boot Camp has always repped hard for NYC and now is a better time than ever for this kinda joint to drop cuz New York MC's have to bring the art back and start doing it big the way it was in the golden years of the 90's.

I don't know wuts goin on with that post or who the EFF it is that has a problem, but some mofo has reported a whole bunch of my links so they have been removed off rapidshare...Im sorry if you don't agree with the sharing of music, but don't spoil it for the people who like to peep new or old ishh which they may not have heard of...if you dont like it then dont come here or anywhere else offering music. Im not saying that people shud come to my site, download all they want and never support artists. All Im trying to do here is share some GOOD worthy hip hop, to people that may otherwise not know of. I know I promised something straight SILLY this week, so I welcome y'all to the 4th installment of Bootis' ULTIMATE series. Right here, right now, we got the ULTIMATE Queensbridge Projects Post.

Located in Long Island City, the Queens Borough of NYC, Queensbridge housing projects was opened in 1939. With over 3,142 units, QB is still the largest PJ's in all of the United States.

In the hip hop community Queensbridge projects is known as one of the most historical; giving birth to some of the greatest talent to ever spit on a mic. From the early days of Marley Marl and MC Shan to the new age hip hop of Mobb Deep, Nas and Capone N Noreaga, QB has always been known to have a plethora of hungry MC's just waiting to tell their tales of money, drugs and murder.

Back in the day when Marley Marl and the Juice Crew did battle with KRS One and Boogie Down Productions, Queensbridge MC's stuck together as one, to murk any competitors. However, the new breed of MC's to come out of this legendary projects have been back stabbing and goin to war amonst themselves. Whether it be Tragedy vs. Noreaga, Nas vs. Cormega vs. Mobb Deep, Cormega vs. Nature, it seems that this generation of MC doesn't know how put differences aside and rep they own hood. Either way, over here at the Bootis Connection, we put those differences aside to bring all these QB MC's together for one ULTIMATE collection. ENJOY!!!!!

I have received NUMEROUS emails and comments regarding problems with my passwords. For the record, every password I put up is checked to make sure it works and trust me if the other 100 odd ppl who download don't have issues then it's YOU.

Now with that said, I am aware that many ppl who use MAC computers are having issues with my files as well as others from other blogsites. I don't know why I didn't post this sooner, but a regular visitor of this blog, DC Condo, found the glich for all you MAC pc'ers.

Apparently, Stuffit Expander, the default .rar archiver has a problem with PW's that are too long. Bomarchivehelper, the other MAC archiver doesn't support password protected files.

THE SOLUTION:

Big Ups to DC Condo for finding a MAC archiver that works. So if you are having problems with the passwords and you are using a MAC computer, before you start snappin at me saying my PW's are wrong, try using Rar Expander, and remember, me and the other bloggers out there are bringing you this service free of charge, we don't expect anything back except for maybe a few click through's on our ads and your support. We're just trying to spread the word of GOOD hip hop music to the masses, so you better appreciate it.

From the Queensbridge O.G. who kick started careers of Capone N Noreaga, I bring to you the discography of Tragedy Khadafi a.k.a The Intelligent Hoodlum. Back in the 1980's, a young cat by the name of Percy Chapman began rhymin on the block and straight killin n*ggas. Before long, this kid was catchin the attention of legendary producer and Juice Crew member, Marley Marl. Once hooked up with Marley, Percy Chapman began rhyming under the moniker, The Intelligent Hoodlum, and released 2 albums in the early 90's; Intelligent Hoodlum & Saga Of A Hoodlum. Although it took an 8 year hiatus between Saga of a Hoodlum and the original Thug Matrix album, Trag was busy developing the talents of many QB artists. Many of times Trag worked with Mobb Deep, but he's most known for basically giving birth to the careers of Capone N Noreaga. If you got the War Report, then you know how that album is flooded with Trag, both rhymin and on the production side. However, just before the release of the War Report, Capone was sent to prison and the relationship between Trag and Nore took a turn for the worst. Im not gonna get into that whole hoopla, but all Ill say is this, Trag would murder Nore anyday of the week, both lyrically and physically.

I gotta send out a huge propz to Speakeasy Sounds for droppin most of these...Thx for coming thru AGAIN...and to the rest of you I hope you enjoy this drop...Tragedy Khadafi is one of the best to come out of QB!!

On hiatus for the last 4 years after the disappointing "It Ain't Safe No More," Busta comes back hard with his first album, "The Big Bang," off Dr. Dre's Aftermath imprint. Now for all you serious heads out there I don't even have to tell you how much work went behind this joint. Originally slated for a December '05 release and with numerous "fake" leaks, we FINALLY get the real deal and trust me it ain't a sleeper. Enlisting a team of all-star producers (Dr. Dre, Swizz Beats, DJ Scratch, Sha Money XL, Green Lantern, J. Dilla-RIP, E-Double, Timbaland, and more) the beats on this album are just BONKERS.
By now, anybody who listens to hip hop has heard the commercial club banger, "Touch It," but don't get it twisted, The Big Bang isn't just straight commercial hip hop bullshit. "Been Through The Storm" features the legendary Stevie Wonder, and is perhaps one of my fav tracks on the album. This joint is like Busta's track for his mom's and pop's, where he takes us back to the days when he first came to America, growing up in the ghetto and the struggles he overcame. On "Cocaina" Busta just basically breaks it down for ya like he's the COCAINA (the drug that overdoses mofo's) - it's just got one of those sick headnoddin beats. And the last track I'll speak on is "Goldmine." GODDAMN!!! this track is SICK!!! it's back to the old skool Raekwon that we all fell in love with (no homo). With the beat produced by E-Dub you know its a banger, both Busta and Rae are on point with the lyrics, and if this is what these guys do together I can't WAIT for "Cuban Linx II" cuz if you don't already know, Busta is Exec Prod. on Rae's new shit.

Definately check this album, and if you like it, which I KNOW you will, go cop that at your local music store on June 13...let's support artists who actually put out quality music and take the time to perfect their shit, so we don't have to skip every other track!

As a hip hop artist, Immortal Technique is most known for his strong political views and controversial lyrics. Whether it be his references to poverty in America, the wrongdoings of government, media, religion and law enforcement, this is one MC trying to make a difference in a positive way. Technique is a very outspoken member of the hip hop community battling against the evil's of the industry. On more than one occasion, he has expressed how no hip hop artist really makes the kind of loot they act like they do; its all about the record companies and their exploitation of artists. In his own words, "all that shit is borrowed," referencing the cars, the money and the jewelz we so often see in hip hop videos. While Immortal Technique has a huge catalogue of tracks, only 2 official LP's have been released, both being independent. His 3rd release is set for later this year and is entitled, "The Middle Passage," so when it drops be sure to cop that.

Lately I've been droppin joints from the golden age of hip hop (early-mid 90's). So today I bring you a new '06 artist drop.

Known for that track "Diamonds On My Neck," Smitty has been behind the scenes ghostwriting for the likes of Dr. Dre and P. Diddy since 2000. After sneaking on to the set of Dre's movie, The Wash, and waiting for 16 hours, Smitty spit a couple rhymes for the good doctor and within 2 weeks was in the studio. Ghostwriting songs for the movies soundtrack, as well as Dre's forever shelved Detox, led to an immediate offer to sign with Aftermath; however, Smitty turned it down along with offers from Roc-A-Fella, Arista, Capitol Records, Def Jam, Elektra, and Jive. Deciding to settle down with J Records, this Face Mob member, co-signed by non other than Scarface, is set to drop "Life Of A Troubled Child" later this year. As a little teaser/buzz before his debut, Smitty drops "The Voice Of The Ghetto," so we can get better acquainted...check out the crazy production on this joint!!!!

Saafir, also known as, "Saucee Nomad" "Hunchback of Oakland" & "Mr. No No" has been in the game more than a minute now. Many of you may know him as part of the group, The Golden State Warriors, along with Ras Kass and Xzibit. But Saafir has been around since 2pac and the days of Digital Underground. While both working as dancers for Digital Underground back in the early 90's, Pac and Saafir were roomies in the Oaktown. After making his debut rap appearence on Casual's Fear Itself & Digital Underground's The Body-Hat Syndrome, this freestyle master broke free to record his own album debut entitled Boxcar Sessions in 94. Although Saafir, Ras Kass and X to the Z have recorded tracks together, featuring each other on their solo drops, I'm still wondering if these 3 brilliant lyricists will EVER drop an LP together.

As the Ultimate Boot Camp Post was embraced by so many, I was compelled to do another ULTIMATE post...this time, like the last, we run through New York, and check the powerhouse group, D.I.T.C.!!!!!!!

The New York based hip hop collective known as D.I.T.C, or the Diggin' In The Crates crew, derived the name from the well known practice of sampling by DJ's (note: DJ Premier). Comprised of 8 members in total, this crew is not just made up of MC's. Blessing the M.I.C. are members A.G., Big L, Diamond D, Fat Joe, Lord Finesse, and O.C. As well, the crew has its 2 main producers Showbiz and Buckwild (Lord Finesse and Diamond D also produce), although many other DJ's have completed major projects for the crew; most notably DJ Premier, Prince Paul, and Pete Rock. As D.I.T.C started to gain recognition and some spins commercially they were hit with the untimely death of Big L, one of the greatest MC's to EVER kick a flow. For all those who know, L had a magnificent gift to spit rhymes like none other with a flow that would just glide along with no effort at all.

A once dominant hip hop group in the 90's, D.I.T.C slowly deteriorated in the new millenium, partially due to the deaths of Big L and Big Pun, a close affiliate and friend of the group. But, one of the largest setbacks was the lack of success of Fat Joe's solo career in the 2K. Most people never heard of Joe before 50 Cent went and started talkin sh*t, but Fat Joe is a legend in the Bronx and the old Joe would have straight coldcocked 50 and ended that beef with NO confusion. However, a slimmer and more GUCCI'd out Joe seems to have lost that killer D.I.T.C edge that he once had, giving up his grimey street style in order to make 'hits' like that 50 b*tch.

In the early 1990's not many hip hop groups were more influential than A Tribe Called Quest. Comprised of 3 members, Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, A Tribe Called Quest broke through the hip hop scene with their jazz-rap style, in a time when gangsta rap reined supreme. Rollin with the likes of De La Soul, Leaders Of The New School, and the Jungle Brothers, Tribe helped spawn the early form of concsious rap. Although the group disbanded following The Love Movement, with the current state of hip hop one can only hope for a reunion in the near future.

Sorry guys I just could NOT resist interupting the Boot Camp post for this. So, as I was searchin around YouTube for another Boot Camp video I stumbled along a song that I haven't heard in years, but have possessed since '96. 'The Points' was featured on the soundtrack to "Panther," a movie starring a young Bokeem Woodbine, Angela Bassett, and Chris Rock to name a few. Now, I know y'all have heard the track 'Flava In Ya Ear' by Craig Mack, heard how it was the "Greatest" collabo song of all time, and now how Busta Rhymes has dropped his 2006 version, 'Touch It Remix', but doesn't anybody know wut the hell they talkin bout??? Probably because it was supporting a movie about the Black Panther Party, or the heavy political tone of the song, 'The Points' never hit the mainstream or became known as one the "great" collabos. Back in '95, it was released for the movie soundtrack, but only the edited/cut back version made it to the actual release and music video (as seen above). This here, however, is the single which features a 9 minute original cut of the song and boasters an enormous cast including: Notorious B.I.G., Coolio, Doodlebug (of Digable Planets), Big Mike, Buckshot, Redman, Menace Clan, Heltah Skeltah, Bone Thugs~N~Harmony, Busta Rhymes, 5th Ward, and Jamal. Now if you ask me, THAT is the greatest collabo track of all time, but don't take my word for it, check it out yourselves!!!!

Arguably the GREATEST hip-hop super group of all time, the Boot Camp Clik have been doing it big since the early 90's. Consisting of 4 groups or 10 members (Black Moon: Buckshot, Evil Dee, 5ft.-- Smif-N-Wessun: Tek & Steele-- Heltah Skeltah: Ruck & Rock--O.G.C.: Starang Wondah, Louieville Sluggah, Top Dog) this is one super group without a weak link. Hailing from the birth place of hip hop, Brooklyn, NY, the B.C.C. have struggled to make it mainstream, but have gathered a cult-like following in the underground scene.
Over the past few years the group has seen many problems. Shortly after their critically acclaimed release, Dah Shinin', Smif N Wessun were sued by the gun company "Smith and Wesson" under copyright infringment for the use of their name. In '96 the group was forced to change their name and decided be known as the Cocoa Brovaz (terrible choice if u ask me). After a lengthy court battle, Tek & Steele beat the gun company and once again became Smif N Wessun in 2005.
Following harsh reviews from their sophomore LP, Magnum Force, Heltah Skeltah member Rock, left his partner Ruck and the entire Boot Camp fam to pursue his solo career, sighting creative differences with the promotion and production of past BCC efforts. It seems like Rock has come to his senses and rejoined the group, since he has been recording for the upcoming album, The Last Stand, which is scheduled for release later this year.
After coming strong in the '05 with the triple threat package (Monkey Barz, Chemistry, Reloaded) I can't wait to see what happens in '06 with the whole camp back together again....Keep a look out!!!!!!!!

Okay for the last post of the MC's to check in the '06 we had to come back to the NYC. Remember that cat that ripped up 106 & Park's freestyle friday 7 weeks in a row? The one who did it first and the reason why they had to come up with that whole hall of fame sh*t. His name was Postaboy and while many people thought he just fell off and couldn't make the transition from battle rap to LP rap, the man was actually goin thru some things and had to put the rap game on hold. Its been 2 years since the days of 106 and for Postaboy its probably felt like a lifetime. Straight outta 106, Postaboy signed with Universal/Fo'Reel, but the deal was botched due to mismanagement and lack of promotion; Posta then had to endure the loss of his brother in the 9/11 attacks in NY; to top it all off, Posta was diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately, the original Mr. 106 has battled back from all adversity, with 2 new mixtapes and has beaten the cancer that almost took his life. Poised to drop his debut album, Live From The Emergency Room, check Postaboy to do some damage in the '06.

Last but most definitely not least...Saigon. If you never heard of this dude, you better do some research. This MC is a true product of an F'ed up U.S society. By age 11 dude was sellin weed; by 13, part of a gang and by the age of 15 Saigon had already been involved in 2 shootings, which he received jail time for. This kid was basically raised by the NY penal system, spending the remainder of his teenage years behind bars. After being released from prison in '99 Saigon hit the mixtape circuit hard and made a name for himself in NY. You can now find a Saigon all over mixtapes, on HBO and still sometimes on the news. Earlier this year some dude tried to steal his chain, stabbin him in the head with a beer bottle. Saigon didnt want to get blood in his Benz so he tried to hail a cab (isn't it hard enuff tryin to hail a cab in NYC being black man, but tryin to get one while your covered in blood from a stab wound to the head???). So ya obviously he wasn't picked up so he drove himself to the hospital. Anyway, this cats rhyme skills are amazing so check him out....summer 06 The Greatest Story Never Told!!!

Lupe Fiasco (pronounced LOO-PAY) is a new and upcoming MC hailing from the Chi. First hitting it big when he appeared on fellow Chi-town artist and friend, Kanye West's Touch The Sky, Lupe has actually been around longer than most think. If not the crazy mixtape series, Fahrenheit 1/15, Lupe has also been seen doing tracks with Mike Shinoda's Fort Minor and Ghostface Killah. His debut album, Lupe's Food & Liquor, hits stores sometime this year and is executive produced by Jay-Z. Check out the lead single playin up top, Kick Push!!

Philly STAND UP!!! On our 3rd day of the New MC's post we move from New York, one state south to Pennsylvania.

First up from Philly we got this kid Cyssero A.K.A Rockstar. I first heard this guy spit on those "2 Raw For The Streets" Dvd's, battle mofo's and straight killin them. Apparently, Cyssero got his break when he snuck backstage at one of The Game's concerts, went right up to the man and started spittin lyrics. Well word is that Game was feelin him SO much that he got up and threw his Blackwallstreet chain on Cyss and said welcome to the fam. One thing I can say is this kid's got lyrics and can battle, but only time will tell if he can be one of the few MC's who can switch over from the battle rap scene to the LP's.

Another Philly MC we all must look out for his this cat G.A.G.E. The next protege of the good Dr. Dre, G.A.G.E. is reppin his new Aftermath home to the fullest. This mixtape is the first I ever heard of him, but if he consistently lays down music like this then I'ma definately keep checkin for him. With Dre hookin up the beats its pretty hard not to produce bangaz, but once again only time will tell if this MC can fill the shoes of those before him (The Game, 50 Cent, Eminem, Snoop Dogg).

This morning at 4:30am, rapper Proof of D-12 was shot and killed outside Detroit nightclub Triple C. Born Deshaun Holton, the 32 year old was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where he was pronouced dead on arrival. Another man, 35, also involved in the shooting is now said to be in critical condition, after both himself and Proof received gunshots to the head. Most known as a member of Eminem's group D-12, Proof was a prominent and legendary figure in the Detroit rap scene. Not one to duck and dodge his PJ's once he hit big, Proof was often found hosting MC battles at Detroit's Hip Hop Shop. After dropping D-12's debut Devil's Night in 2001, followed by D-12 World in 2004, Proof went on to release his debut solo effort, Searching For Jerry Garcia just last year. This MC will truely be missed.

Bringing back good old New York hip hop, nobody rep's their set quite like Papoose. "I got Staten Island on my pinky, Queens on my thumb dude, the Bronx on my middle finger screamin F&CK YOU, rock ice in Manhattan so there's the ring finger, you know I had to keep Brooklyn on the trigger finger." By now you all heard of this cat from Busta's Touch It remix, but Papoose has been ALL over NYC droppin mixtapes like bombs with Kay Slay/Streetsweepers. Right now the kid is making so much dough offa his mixtape sales we have yet to see "Nacirema Dream" drop, hopefully soontime, maybe second quarter 06?

The fourth MC to check out is also reppin NYC and inked with a prominent New York DJ. Word on the wire, when Stack Bundles came on the seen EVERYONE wanted a piece of him, hence the name of this mixtape. After first signing with Arista and layin down tracks with Kanye, Stacks deal fell thru and was back on the streets, again choppin his tape. It wasn't long before Stacks and The Riot Squad got picked up by none other than DJ Clue, inking a deal with the Desert Storm Fam along side F-A-B.

Okay so check it out, this will be my last post for the week cuz I ain't gonna be up on here this weekend, so I'ma give you a little taste of what's to come next week. Each day I'ma put up 2 of the newest and freshest MC's to come out the woodwork. With the current state of hip hop, its hard to come across an MC who can actually kick a flow with decent lyrics. So without further ado here are the first 2 MC's to watch for in 2k6.

First off let me say this is not an official release, nor is it even a mixtape. It's a compilation of all the tracks I got on this cat and trust me it's worth a listen. After first listening to this guy I couldn't BELIEVE he was from Canada - ya that's right, this guy is reppin Ottawa. With his lead single, Let Me Live, in heavy rotation on Flow 93.5 (T Dot's Urban Radio Station) Belly is ready to make his mark in the hip hop world. Unlike most Canadian hip hop artists, Belly has been able to garner the respect of many U.S. artists, such as Scarface, J.R. Writer and Loon. And with mixtapes dropped by Kay Slay, DJ Kool Kid, and Big Mike this is one Canadian MC who should not be slept on.

Propz to all my Canadian MC's, especially my boy Jon Doe from Money Won't Stop Music. Check out Belly's Website and when he drops this summer make sure to go cop that.

Next up, we got my man Red Cafe out of NYC. Many of you heard this cat on the track "All Night Long" off the Coach Carter Soundtrack, but he's been an underground mixtape king in New York for more than a minute now. This guys style is straight vicious, take no prisoners, I'ma murk you type sh*t and cats all over both coasts are lovin him for it. This here is the Whoo Kid mixtape to help promo Cafe's 2006 album release. Like it or not, NYC is taken over for the '06!!!

Started by Kanye West in 2k5, G.O.O.D. Music label (acronym: Getting Out Our Dreams), has already dropped John Legend's 'Get Lifted' and Common's 'Be', both platinum albums. This mixtape is to show off some of the other talent and new comers that are signed to G.O.O.D, such as GLC, Consequence, Sa-Ra and Fansworth Bentley (Yes, that scrawny guy in plaid).

With two albums and two mixtapes under the belt, M-1 (one half of Dead Prez) branches off from partner Sticman for his first solo effort, Confidential. While Dead Prez is most known for their politically charged, militant PRO-black lyrics, M-1 takes a different approach; "I don’t want people to think about the usual Dead Prez...I don’t want to attract the same kind of attention that I’ve attracted in the past." Well, other than the monologues M-1 goes into at the end of 'Confidential' 'Comrades Call' and 'Too Smart' he lives up to what he says. All in all, M-1 makes a solid solo debut with Confidential and in the absence of the "I Hate Crackers" lyrics, this album has the potential to reach a new fanbase - plus we got K'Naan reppin Canada!!!!!

Ok ok ok...Just leaked out last night, here is LL's 12th ALBUM!!!! While I ain't exactly been an LL fan since Momma Said Knock You Out, you can't hate on this guy for what he's doing. Nobody has been in the game as long, and NO ONE has been as successful as Cool J. With that said this album ain't for the hip hop heads - it ain't even really for dudes in general. While the first song on the album, "It's LL and Santana" is pretty sick, it's really the only bangin track. LL has taken his usual approach and has gone straight for the ladies, and he does a great job at that target market. If you like LL you'll love this album, if you like the laid back/pop/top 40's brand of hip hop this album is for you.

On hiatus for the last 4 years after the disappointing "It Ain't Safe No More," Busta comes back hard with his first album, "The Big Bang," off Dr. Dre's Aftermath imprint. Now for all you serious heads out there I don't even have to tell you how much work went behind this joint. Originally slated for a December '05 release and with numerous "fake" leaks, we FINALLY get the real deal and trust me it ain't a sleeper. Enlisting a team of all-star producers (Dr. Dre, Swizz Beats, DJ Scratch, Sha Money XL, Green Lantern, J. Dilla-RIP, E-Double, Timbaland, and more) the beats on this album are just BONKERS.
By now anybody who listens to hip hop has heard the commercial club banger, "Touch It," but don't get it twisted, The Big Bang isn't just straight commercial hip hop bullshit. "Been Through The Storm" features the legendary Stevie Wonder, and is perhaps one of my fav tracks on the album. This joint is like Busta's track for his mom's and pop's, where he takes us back to the days when he first came to America, growing up in the ghetto and the struggles he overcame. On "Cocaina" Busta just basically breaks it down for ya like he's the SHIT (the drug that overdoses mofo's) - it's just got one of those sick headnoddin beats. And the last track I'll speak on is "Goldmine." GODDAMN!!! this track is SICK!!! it's back to the old skool Raekwon that we all fell in love with (no homo). With the beat produced by E-Dub you know its a banger, both Busta and Rae are on point with the lyrics, and if this is what these guys do together I can't WAIT for "Cuban Linx II" cuz if you don't already know, Busta is Exec Prod. on Rae's new shit.

Definately check this album, and if you like it, which I KNOW you will, go cop that at your local music store on June 13...let's support artists who actually put out quality music and take the time to perfect their shit, so we don't have to skip every other track!

The Wallabee Champ is back with the best sh*t since Supreme Clientele. This album is one of the very very few new joints that have come out lately that have been REAL hip hop. The beats are tight, the lyrics are on point like always from Ghost, and there aren't too many features (only Wu members, Ne-Yo on the first single and BIG on the bonus track). All in all, Ghostface comes through with 24 tracks (7 of which are skits) of pure fire. ***RIP ODB & J Dilla***

Apparently, Suge Knight of the Infamous Death Row records may lose EVERYTHING in the next few days. Over the last year Suge has had numerous problems with the label. In 2005, he was taken to court and ordered to pay $107 Million to Lydia Harris, a woman who helped jump start the label but was forced out when sh*t got hot. Tomorrow (April 4th), Death Row Records and all its assets (including its entire music catalogue) will be seized by the courts and for not appearing to hearings regarding this matter my land Suge's ass back behind bars, charged with contempt.
So you remember that hip hop magazine that we all used to read like the bible back in the day?? Remember the clown who ran it? No not Benzino the other clown. Well rumour has it that Dave Mays was partyin it up in Miami (G-d knows why seeing as tho he just lost his life's work) when he ran into Busta Rhymes. As the rumour goes, the 2 got into some words resulting in 1 broken champagne bottle and 50 stitches to the head. I'll let you guess who got the worse end of that battle.
Last but not least, Bad Boy artist Black Rob was just recently sentenced to 7 years in the slammer. Black Rob, most known for his smash "Whoa!" only recently dropped his sophomore LP "The Black Rob Report" in 2005, got arrested and charged back in 2004 for burlary and possession of stolen property. Rob and some next guy broke into a hotel suite in NYC and stole $6000 in jewelry and $300 cash from a women's pocketbook, but were both caught on the hotel security camera's. After dodgin po-po for the last few months, they finally caught up to him...Damn Rob 7 years for some ice, you got 2 albums dropped under Puff and you gotta go purse snatchin???
